Happy Halloween

So last week, my housemates and I went to a Halloween party. It was a last minute decision and we had to try and russel up our costumes with things that we found around the house. While I went as a cat (original I know) my housemates decided to go as a bat (very spooky) and a leopard (dead of course), and I had the pleasure of doing their make-up.
I was actually nicely surprised with how they came out and thought I would share some pictures.

To create this bat inspired eye make-up, I first lined Holly's eyes with black eyeliner pencil and following her eyebrow, drew an outline of a wing to the side of her eyes. I then shaded the farthest part of the wing in with the eyeliner to make it super dark. I covered her lid in gold dazzle dust gradually using a darker shade of brown at the outer edges and nearer her eyebrow. I followed this with black and grey eye shadow to blend into the wing.I then stuck some rather large fake eyelashes on her, and voila.

Katie had decided to go as leopard, so I wanted to create the leopard print pattern on her eyelids. I first covered her lid in the gold dazzle dust (from Barry M...it works like a dream) and heavily lined her eyes with black eye liner (the liquid liner works best for this). Then using a small brush, I used a darker shade of brown and made lots of patches on top of the gold, before using the liquid liner to draw an outline around these patches to make the stand out more and look more leopard-y. I carried this pattern out to a point near her hairline and used some of the gold to dust slightly underneath her eye to even it out. We then stuck on some more 'feline' looking eyelashes on her, and hey presto, we have a leopard. Her lips look really good, and this was one of those temporary lip tattoos you can buy, I think she got hers from ASOS. We then added a bit of blood to add to the scare factor...as after all it was Halloween.

Bird is the word

Feather Skirts. Bloody love them.

When I first saw them out and about I was a bit dubious, wasn't sure whether I like them or not, but I have come to the conclusion that I need one of these feathered beauties in my life. Look so classy and elegant as party wear (and party season is coming up WAHOOO) teamed with something sequin and sparkly will look amaze (maybe a bit drag queen...but it's Christmas soo meh...you'll fit right into a pantomime) .. but they also look SO GOOD with something more masculine such as an over sized blazer (white is the new black this season darling) or toughened up with a leather jacket. Beaut. GET IN MY WARDROBE!

(I love this Matthew Williamson sequin and feather dress (£2,995....eaaaap) I can dream.... but this Mango black feathered skirt is very cute and would look lovely with a fitted sequin top (£114.90))
