Pink Hair

So for a while, I have been wanting to have baby pink hair, the colour of candy floss (or what I imagine the colour of unicorn blood might be) however, I have never had the courage to do it.

Last time I was at the hairdressers, after having bleached my hair to an inch of its life, I very nearly opted for the pink toner to be applied instead of the icy blonde which, it turns out, I did end up going for.

BUT, while at London Fashion Week I came across these fantastic little gems called Color Bugs by Kevin Murphy, which let you temporarily apply colour to your hair. So, I got a pink one and decided to use it for the first time this weekend.

With the help of my housemate, we started off with a bit of a dip-dye effect, just colour the ends pink, but after a few vodka and lemonades later, I decided to just go for it and coloured all of it pink.

And I loved it. It's great too because you can build up the colour depending on your own personal taste, making it as strong or as pale as you want - and it only lasts until you decide to wash it out.

It's having the best of both worlds if you ask me, and I will most definitely be buying a lilac beauty to try out too.

Here's me with my pink do loving my random life with Rowntree's.

LFW SS13: Pheobe English

Absolutely LOVED Pheobe English's SS13 collection. It was siiiiiiiiiick and I'm not gonna lie, I wanted it all didn't I?! And sitting FROW I managed to get a very close look at the collection as the models glided past.

The metal mouth pieces the models wore really set it off and helped reflect the simple edginess of the garments. I loved the cut-out lattice sleeves, and the attention to detail in each of the designs.

The fluid and contemporary cuts of the monochrome collection fitted in perfectly with the surroundings of the Freemasons' Hall which was home to Vauxhall Fashion Scout for the week, with the only hint of colour coming from the gold accessories - in the necklaces and the mouth embellishment.

In what could be seen as predominantly masculine silhouettes, the billowing fabrics and subtle cut-outs added the femininity and sex-appeal to the garments.

The simple slicked back hair complemented the collection perfectly, and with their pale make-up and lightly smoked eyes, everything came together leaving a beautifully haunting impression.

LFW SS13: Corrie Nielsen

Corrie Nielsen’s SS13 collection was by far one of my favourites of this year’s London Fashion Week.

Taking inspiration from London’s Royal Botanic Gardens, metallic silk was shaped around the body like giant roses, as well as there being lots of folds conjuring up images of leaves, and petals and all the intricate and delicate parts of the flower – beautifully avant-garde.

The animalistic and wildlife theme was further emphasised in the models hair – half of it was slicked back in a wet-look which was juxtaposed against the back-combed ends adding insane amounts of volume, as well as the music they walked featuring sounds of birds and trickling water. Some of the models even had head pieces that were structured into the shapes of flowers.

The soft colour palette of nudes, light pinks and blues, and the delicate fabrics such as taffeta, chiffon, organza were contrasted with the big structure and tailoring in the garments, and the final red carpet dress to come down the runway had a beautiful textured silk train which was put together in such a way to make it look like it was full of feathers.

The models were literally transformed into walking flowers down the catwalk in what was a beautiful collection from Nielsen, reminding us that fashion really is an art-form.

These photos were taken by Kaye Ford who was also part of team Notion at LFW – She’s awesome.

LANDAAAN FASHION WEEK

So went to London Fashion Week with Notion magazine this year, and it was the first time I had ever been.

And it was absolutely incredible...exceeded my already very high expectations and to be honest I was LOVING life while I was there...so it was a bit of a shock and a massive comedown to go back to 'uni' when it was over, and if I'm honest, I think I was in mourning for a good couple of days.

Not. Even. Lying.

Been a very, very busy bee on the NCTJ course and have barely had time to breathe, so posts about some of the shows I went to will be up shortly.

In the meantime, have a read of some of the reviews and interviews I did for Notion while I was there :)

Oh Hai Real World!

So since finishing uni in May I have been a very busy gal! After one night of partying and celebrations at our summer ball I delved straight into the world of (free) work, kicking things off with my month's internship at Glamour magazine!....very exciting stuff.

It was hectic times in the office as I came smack bang in the middle of getting things ready for their Woman Of The Year Awards, and I had a GREAT time, and got a good insight into the workings of the magazine.

Straight after this, I had my three day stint at the London Collections Men with Notion magazine....which was THE BEST time evs! (see post below) and then I was back at More! magazine for a week, doing a bit of covering whilst one of the features team was on holibobs. (And got my first pay cheque as a journalist!)

I love going to More! as everyone in the office is #TOTESAMAZE. Also got given a fair bit of responsibility and was in charge of obtaining contain for certain pages of the mag as well as getting vox pops and interviewing people!

Loving life.

Then I moved out of my uni house (sad times ahoy) and came back home to Caerdydd, before I GRADUATED WITH A FIRST CLASS HONOURS IN JOURNALISM ON WEDNESDAY!!!!

Just call me Anna Verdon BA (hons)......Lol

Me and my uni housemates: Katie, Holly, (me) and Emilie.

London Collections: Menswear

I know I haven't updated this blog in FOREVER but I have been extremely busy GRADUATING and stuff....that's right GRADUATING.....it's all very exciting.

so....earlier on in June I was very fortunate in getting the chance to attend LCM (London Collections: Menswear) for Notion Magazine, and it has to be said, it was definitely, BY FAR, one of the best experiences of my life. I had never done anything like this before and the atmosphere of the whole weekend and the buzz I got from being there was the best feeling.

As well as working with some incredible people, I also got the chance to attend shows and presentations, writing catwalk reports and interviewing designers. IT WAS SICK MAYN.

And how could I forget to mention I had a brief but sweet little conversation with Alexa Chung (ALEXA FRICKIN' CHUNG) whilst sharing a lift with her in BFC headquaters...little bit star struck? I think so.
The coverage of the whole weekend can be found on Planet Notion here: Notion's LCM Coverage

And here's some stuff I wrote on the weekend - have a gand if ya fanciess :)
